  • Setting and actualizing the editorial agenda.
  • Maintaining team values and providing leadership that encompasses support and inclusivity.
  • Editing content, including episodes, newsletter, social media copy, and digital content.
  • Managing staff and coordinating multi-platform projects.
  • Upholding standards in journalism, craft, tone, and substance for each episode; handling at least 3 direct reports.

Education & Work Location

Applicants are required to have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. The role is remote, but NPR approves the location, and the base office is in Washington, DC.

Required Skills

The Supervising Editor should be adept in team leadership, production flow, content editing, and have expertise in race and identity issues. A minimum of 8 years in broadcast or audio and 5 years in editing, as well as significant management experience, is required.

Preferred Skills

An understanding of NPR's multi-platform programming and experience in collaborative large-scale projects are preferred.

Job Type and Compensation
