Join Dyne Therapeutics as a Co-Op student to explore rare neuromuscular disease therapies through data science and machine learning in Waltham, MA.

Overview of Data Sciences Co-Op Role at Dyne Therapeutics

The Data Sciences team at Dyne Therapeutics is actively looking for a Co-Op student to join their efforts in developing novel therapeutics for rare neuromuscular diseases. Dyne Therapeutics, located in Waltham, MA, offers a dynamic environment where a student can apply computational skills to drug discovery data analysis, focusing on multi-omics and preclinical datasets. This position aims to integrate a collaborative, detail-oriented Co-Op student into their team, starting in July for a period of 6 months.

Experiential Learning and Skill Development

The Dyne’s Co-Op Program provides a platform for students to learn about and participate in various experimental and bioinformatics research methodologies used in therapeutic discovery and development. This Co-Op role is an excellent opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure to the biotech industry and acquire hands-on experience in a company at the forefront of therapeutic innovation.

Key Responsibilities

The Co-Op student will be responsible for implementing computational techniques for the analysis of omics datasets, including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). The role involves evaluating computational methods to classify therapeutic research and development data, helping to understand patient populations and disease biology. Additionally, the student will handle the management, integration, and visualization of preclinical and translational data. They will also develop analytical methods while ensuring accurate documentation and regular updates to the project team. At the end of the Co-Op term, the student is expected to present their learnings and findings.

Educational and Skill Requirements

Prospective Co-Op students should be pursuing an undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as bioinformatics, cheminformatics, applied mathematics, or computer science, or possess equivalent experience. Necessary skills include programming in R and/or Python, experience in statistical and machine learning methods, and an interest in biological data types including transcriptomics and proteomics. An understanding of relational databases and data management structures like SQL and json is also important. Strong organizational skills along with solid written and oral communication abilities are required for this role.

Company Culture and Location

Dyne Therapeutics emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and learning. It's essential to note that the position is located in Waltham, MA, and does not offer a remote option. Successful applicants will need to relocate to or be able to commute to the area to participate in the Co-Op program.

Through the Co-Op experience at Dyne Therapeutics, students will engage in impactful work, develop professionally, and assist in paving the way for advances in the treatment of rare neuromuscular diseases.
