The Senior Facial Character TD is a key player in the creation of photorealistic facial rigs, responsible for pushing the boundaries of visual fidelity and performance in facial animation within the interactive entertainment industry. Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Facial Character TD, the role involves developing high-quality facial rigs based on FACS using blendshapes, authoring rigging systems, and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams. The individual will contribute to the development of tools and automated workflows for facial rig editing and optimization. They will also process and clean scan data from FACS sessions, sculpt FACS, and keep up to date with industry advancements in facial rigging technology.

Additionally, the candidate may direct actors through FACS for facial acquisitions, ingest 3rd party facial assets, and provide feedback to external vendors. The Senior TD is expected to possess a robust understanding of facial anatomy and FACS, as well as experience with shape transfer pipelines.

Qualifications and Skills

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with specific expertise in character setup, Python scripting, and comprehensive knowledge of Maya animation. Candidates should have familiarity with MEL and a background in animation covering all basic principles.

The role demands strong language proficiency for analysis and interpretation, excellent mathematical skills, and superior reasoning capabilities. Computer skills including expert-level experience with Maya, ZBrush, Mudbox, and familiarity with machine-learning based solutions are necessary. Real-time engine experience (Unity, Unreal) is also preferred.

An in-depth understanding of the technical and creative aspects of rigging photorealistic faces in film or games is essential, along with a passion for collaboration and innovation.
