Core Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the VP of People encompass several core pillars within the People Team: HR, Talent Acquisition, and Culture. In collaboration with senior leadership, the VP will deeply engage with the organization's goals and align people strategies with them, focusing on staffing, recruiting, and retention efforts.

The role involves planning, leading, developing, and implementing policies, processes, and training initiatives that drive employee engagement and satisfaction. These efforts aim to support the organization in meeting human resource compliance and strategic needs. Additionally, the role includes administering HR programs such as onboarding, compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and more.

Furthermore, the VP is tasked with conducting research and analyzing organizational trends via reports and metrics obtained from the organization's HRIS or talent management system. This analytical approach supports informed decision-making and strategy formulation. Collaborations with the Finance department will ensure adherence to the staffing budget and headcount plans.

Legal compliance is another crucial area where the VP, in partnership with the Legal team, will monitor and ensure the organization's adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws. Regular updates and modifications of policies to maintain compliance are also part of the role’s scope. In addition to these responsibilities, the VP will facilitate professional development and training activities for HR staff, ensuring a continuous learning environment.



Required Skills and Experience

The role demands a proven track record in leading HR, talent acquisition, and culture initiatives in dynamic and fast-paced settings. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in employment laws, HR best practices, and talent management strategies.

Key skills include excellent verbal and written communication abilities, interpersonal and negotiation prowess, and organizational finesse. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, supervisory and leadership skills, and adaptability to the organization's needs are essential.

Educationally, the position requires a minimum of 10 years of progressive human resource management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. A SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred, alongside a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
