Role Overview: Director, Scientific Engagement

The role of Director, Scientific Engagement is pivotal for supporting pharmaceutical clients in maximizing the efficacy and value of licensed real-world data (RWD) assets. This position demands profound expertise in RWD, exceptional communication skills, and a drive to assist clients in leveraging data to enhance research outcomes and decision-making processes.

In this role, the Director of Scientific Engagement acts as the primary scientific advisor for clients, offering expertise, training, and support for RWD applications. The director facilitates comprehension of the data, evaluates data feasibility for various use cases, and identifies innovative application opportunities that align with the strategic goals of the clientele.

Key Responsibilities at OM1

  • Scientific Leadership: Lead as the primary scientific liaison, guiding client use of licensed RWD.
  • Data Training: Develop and conduct training sessions to elevate client proficiency with data structures, methodologies, and analytical strategies.
  • Data Feasibility Assessments: Address pre- and post-sale feasibility inquiries and aid clients in assessing the data's utility for their specific research objectives.
  • Use Case Development: Present detailed frameworks to support client research questions across clinical research, health economics, and outcomes research domains.
  • Proactive Data Insights: Identify innovative uses for data and provide insights into emerging RWD trends.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams to align data delivery with client needs while maintaining scientific rigor.
  • Technical Documentation and Reporting: Create materials that support independent client data exploration, beyond existing product documentation.
  • Business Development: Assist the business development team with crafting content for proposals and identifying novel client opportunities.

Required Experience and Qualifications

The role requires an MPH or PhD in fields like Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or Health Services Research, along with 10 years of professional experience, including significant exposure to RWE, health economics, or similar disciplines. The candidate should possess at least 5 years in RWE-focused roles, involving activities such as RWD analysis, study design, and regulatory submissions.



Leadership experience is crucial, with the candidate expected to have managed cross-functional teams and led projects targeting RWE initiatives. Technical proficiency in RWD sources, data standards, analytical techniques, and familiarity with statistical software or query languages is important. Moreover, strong client engagement and analytical skills are essential for translating complex data into actionable insights and innovative solutions.
