Sanctuary Computer, a New York City-based company, is currently on the lookout for a highly skilled Senior Developer. This role demands individuals who have honed their expertise in leading development teams and can collaborate closely with product owners to deliver exceptional results.
As a Senior Developer, you will be thrust into an exciting and challenging environment where you will engage in Value Engineering to tackle complex development tasks. You will be responsible for multiple facets of the development cycle, ensuring that projects meet both technical standards and client expectations. This includes scoping and estimating work for client projects, designing technical architecture plans, and directly communicating with clients to ensure their needs align with project budgets and timelines.
Your role will also include overseeing the success of each project, keeping a close eye on team velocity, project scope, budget, and timeline. Supporting and mentoring more junior developers will be another key responsibility, along with contributing to projects as both an individual developer and a team leader.
We are searching for someone who is not only technically proficient but also easy-going, happy, and approachable. A key aspect of the role is the ability to manage workflow smartly, engaging deeply in work but ready to shift to strategic discussions when necessary. A well-rounded individual with interests in design, art, music, food, or fashion is highly appreciated as these interests often translate into a nuanced sense of design and quality.
The ideal candidate should bring extensive backend development experience, particularly with Ruby on Rails, Elixir Phoenix, or Node.js frameworks. Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks such as React with Next.js, Vue, or Svelte is essential, along with a genuine passion for TypeScript.
An in-depth understanding of SQL and database operations is required, with experience in PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, or SQLite. You must be fluent in web protocols and standards, including HTTP, status codes, and security standards, and have substantial experience in API design, both REST and GraphQL.
Additionally, knowledge of authentication strategies using JWTs and OAuth 2.0 is necessary, alongside experience managing cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, focusing on IAM and credential management. Experience with PaaS platforms like Heroku, Render, Cloud66, Vercel, or Gigalixir is also required.
If you feel you possess the skills and mindset for this challenging and rewarding role at Sanctuary Computer, please consider applying. More details about the position can be found in the detailed description on our career page. You can submit your application through We Work Remotely.
