The Software Engineer III at Cofense plays a crucial role as part of the software engineering team. Reporting to the Senior Manager or Director, this individual is tasked with developing, maintaining, and improving the Triage application, as well as providing mentorship within the team.
Essential duties include implementing new features with clear, robust, and maintainable code; maintaining and enhancing existing features; promoting knowledge sharing through pair programming and code reviews; engaging in team planning and technical discussions; providing advanced support for troubleshooting; creating support documentation; participating in rotating on-call duties; and performing other tasks as required.
Prospective candidates should be proficient in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, testing frameworks like RSpec or MiniTest, version control systems such as Git, relational databases, full-stack development, and the Linux command line. Direct customer engagement, AWS knowledge (ideally with a certification), experience with Docker containers, network communication troubleshooting, and strong communication skills are also required. Familiarity with incident response or forensics is a plus.
Applicants are generally expected to hold a Bachelor's degree and have at least 3 years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails, alongside 7 or more years of overall professional experience.
