The Role

LeafLink is looking for a Director of Engineering to oversee their core platform. The position is remote-friendly, with a home base in NYC. The role encompasses handling the infrastructure, technical foundation, and security roadmaps, as well as focusing on team development. A key part of the role is fostering the partnership between DevOps, QA, Engineering, and IT to optimize platform functions to serve high-quality and reliable products.

The successful candidate will lead the new Platform team, uniting app platform, SDETs, DevOps, and Cloud Engineers. This role focuses on improving performance, reliability, quality, security, and scalability, while supporting product teams in efficient development. The Director will work with modern technologies, participate in strategic planning, and manage a passionate team.

Responsibilities

The Director will collaborate with the VP of Engineering and other stakeholders to set goals and develop a technical roadmap. They will be charged with managing expectations, removing blockers, and ensuring adequate resourcing, alongside mentoring and managing a team. This individual will also have a role in project delivery, architectural oversight, rollout of new testing frameworks, and goal planning. They will participate in interviewing and retaining engineering staff, and they'll partner with teams responsible for security and additional products.

Candidate Qualifications

Prospective candidates should have over 10 years in software development with experience in team leadership. A history of strategic technical planning and road mapping is necessary, as is a passion for team building. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, extensive AWS experience, and a strong background with infrastructure as code, container technologies, CI/CD tooling, API management, and service-oriented architectures.
