Position Summary

Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) is seeking a Security Engineer for a full-time remote position. This role is fundamentally focused on supporting the design, implementation, configuration, and security of infrastructure and various application components. Job Functions

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Incident Response: The candidate will respond to information and cyber security incidents. This includes analyzing logs and threat intelligence to manage such incidents effectively. The Security Engineer will act as a liaison between the Technical Security team and various business units to monitor incident responses and provide necessary updates.

  2. Analysis of Alerts: The candidate will analyze alerts generated by various security tools to minimize false positives and enhance alert effectiveness. This task is pivotal to ensuring a reliable security posture.

  3. Audit Reviews: The role involves reviewing audit trails for any unauthorized access attempts or potential security violations. Conducting root cause analyses to identify gaps and recommendations to counter potential risks is also necessary.

  4. Security Tools Management: The Security Engineer will manage and fine-tune security tools while identifying gaps in the current state of security operations. Recommendations for improvements are crucial to enhance operational effectiveness.

  5. Automation Processes: Applicants should have the ability to evaluate avenues for automation of the incident response process, potentially implementing such improvements.

  6. Documenting Security Incidents: Keeping a precise record of security incidents and breaches is essential, which requires using BMI's corporate risk tracking platform effectively.

  7. Vulnerability Management: The engineer will oversee the end-to-end vulnerability management lifecycle, from discovery to resolution. This includes creating scanning jobs within various security tools, researching vulnerabilities, and guiding their resolution, which may involve patching or adjustments in development processes.

  8. Compliance & Risk Management: Supporting compliance initiatives and risk management activities is a critical component of the role. The candidate will recommend necessary security controls and actions to mitigate identified vulnerability risks.

  9. Dashboard Development: Developing dashboards and data visualizations for various stakeholders, including executive management and operations teams, is also part of the responsibilities.

Position Qualification Requirements

To be considered for the Security Engineer position, candidates must meet the following educational and experiential qualifications:


  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field is required.

  • Experience: The role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a security analyst role or a similar position.
