Required Skills and Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in general software development.
• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years of professional coding experience in languages such as Golang, Rust, JavaScript, Python, or Java.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in the full system development lifecycle from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• A minimum of 5 years designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• 5 years of experience with AWS services and DevOps practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• 3+ years of experience with GraphQL technologies, particularly concerning security implementations and query management.
• Proficient in working with both SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring data integrity and efficient retrieval.
• A mindset aligned with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.

Salary Details

Capital One offers a competitive salary for the Distinguished Engineer position. The annual salary range for candidates applying for this role varies by location:

• Remote (regardless of location): $239,900 - $273,800.
• McLean, VA: $263,900 - $301,200.
• New York, NY: $287,800 - $328,500.
• Richmond, VA: $239,900 - $273,800.

In addition to the base salary, employees in this role may also receive performance-based incentives, which could include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives. Candidates should consider that this salary information pertains specifically to full-time roles, which are governed by their respective contract agreements.
