The Card Fraud Specialist is integral to safeguarding the financial assets and reputation of Nymbus and its clients. In this role, you will monitor real-time transaction data and alerts from various platforms including Lithic, Fiserv EFT, VisaDPS, Velera, and TransFund. The aim is to identify suspicious activity across a broad spectrum of potential fraud types, such as identity theft, account takeover, and card-not-present (CNP) fraud. You'll be responsible for conducting comprehensive investigations, accurately classifying cases, and making well-documented dispute decisions grounded in the investigation findings and relevant card network regulations.

A vital aspect of this position involves knowing the right time and routes to escalate issues for further action. The ideal candidate will analyze case facts, discern fraud types—including distinguishing between true fraud and first-party misuse—and route cases to the appropriate internal teams with detailed investigation summaries. Essential Job Functions

As a Card Fraud Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring card transaction activities across specified platforms to identify suspicious or high-risk behavior.
  • Distinguishing between true fraud and first-party misuse, applying the appropriate investigation techniques for each scenario.
  • Making sound and well-documented dispute decisions based on case findings, fraud classifications, and corresponding Visa and Mastercard regulations.

  • Managing the full lifecycle of disputes and chargebacks, adhering to strict Visa and Mastercard response timelines.
  • Assisting with general ledger reconciliation for dispute activity, ensuring accurate tracking of credits, debits, chargebacks, and recoveries across client portfolios.
  • Engaging professionally with cardholders to verify transactions, collect necessary documentation, and explain outcomes, all while assessing credibility during investigations.
  • Maintaining a structured case management workflow to manage multiple investigations with precision.
  • Producing detailed and accurate documentation at every investigation stage, publicizing findings and decisions clearly.
  • Contributing to fraud trend reports and risk insights, beneficial both internally and for client-facing initiatives.
  • Monitoring emerging fraud schemes and drafting new or updated rules to strengthen detection controls.
  • Helping develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practice documents.
  • Keeping current with Visa/Mastercard rule changes and evolving fraud tactics that may impact dispute timelines and strategies.

Qualifications

Schedule and Salary

The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm EST, with rotating Saturdays as required. The salary range for this position is between $50,000 and $55,000 annually. Additionally, employees can expect annual cash bonuses and equity options based on role level and experience.
