General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is looking for a Cloud DevOps Engineer/Senior Reliability Engineer. As a Cloud DevOps Engineer/Senior Reliability Engineer at GDIT, you will have the following responsibilities:
Ensure operational stability, availability, performance, and scalability of cloud-hosted systems across multiple agile teams in both production and development environments.
Provide real-time monitoring, alerting and incident response to maintain health checks for infrastructure and applications across all cloud layers (including OS, application, and database).
Implement and maintain dashboards, visualizations, and reports for system health, event management, and cost optimization using native Cloud Service Provider (CSP) tools.
Manage cloud resource thresholds while automating capacity planning, forecasting, and resource optimization strategies.
Conduct incident and event management operations, supporting issue diagnosis, resolution, and reporting.
Track, document, and report on monthly performance issues, including metrics about system performance, stability, and time-to-resolution.
Monitor resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk space) across deployed virtual machines, containers, and platform-as-a-service components.
Contribute to the implementation of the Enterprise FinOps framework, including cost control and resource optimization.
Support deployment automation to ensure systems are resilient, repeatable, and scalable, employing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
Integrate operations with DevSecOps, MLOps, and CI/CD pipelines for efficient deployment and management.
Execute daily system health checks and maintain operational runbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
To be successful in this position, candidates are expected to have the following qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
5 to 8+ years of experience in IT system engineering, development, and programming.
Deep expertise with services provided by AWS, Azure, or GCP, specifically in areas such as monitoring, logging, compute, storage, and networking.
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Bicep.
Hands-on experience with monitoring and Application Performance Management (APM) tools, including CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or New Relic.
A solid understanding of incident response, change management, and ITIL-based operational support practices.
Familiarity with CI/CD toolchains and automation platforms like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, or ArgoCD.
Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation and orchestration tasks.
Advanced experience in implementing DevSecOps strategies, ideally using GitOps or related tools.
Experience in developing, testing, and maintaining containerized applications is required.
Knowledge of source version control, build/release tools, and CI/CD methodologies suitable for large, complex enterprise applications.
Understanding of FinOps practices, including cost modeling, forecasting, and optimization tools within cloud platforms.
Knowledge of federal compliance and security frameworks, such as FedRAMP, NIST, and JISF Rev 5, is beneficial.
Relevant certifications like ITIL, AWS SysOps, or Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer will be a plus.
