• Stay updated on coding updates and shifts within the industry, ensuring the organization’s practices remain compliant with the latest codes and standards.

• Participate in other duties as assigned to support the team and organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess:

• A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.

• At least two years of experience in inpatient facility coding, preferably with knowledge in Trauma level 1 or 2 settings, particularly with vascular and cath lab coding expertise.

Certifications and Licenses

Candidates must hold one or more of the following licenses or certifications:

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) via the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

• Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

  

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from the AAPC.

• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) from AHIMA.

Work Environment and Requirements

This role is identified for remote work under SSM Health policies, with candidates ideally residing in Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin; however, additional states may be considered. Responsibilities will include frequent interactions necessitating:
