Required Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.

  • At least two years of experience in inpatient facility coding, preferably with knowledge in Trauma level 1 or 2 settings, particularly with vascular and cath lab coding expertise.

Certifications and Licenses

Candidates must hold one or more of the following licenses or certifications:

  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) via the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

  • Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from the AAPC.

  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) from AHIMA.

Work Environment and Requirements
