Role and Responsibilities
As a Copy Editor & Proofreader, your responsibilities will primarily include:
Editing & Proofreading (50%)
Reviewing written materials produced by in-house writers, freelancers, and automated AI workflows for grammatical, punctuation, and style consistency.
Suggesting rewrites or modifications as necessary to enhance clarity and overall impact.
Style & Brand Consistency (20%)
Maintaining and implementing brand-specific style guides for various clients spanning multiple niches ensuring that the content aligns with each client's voice and brand objectives.
Collaboration & Feedback (15%)
Working closely with Managing Editors to provide constructive and actionable feedback on content submissions.
Collaborating with the Automation Team to improve AI-driven editing tools and related processes.
Quality Control & Verification (10%)
Verifying factual information to guarantee accuracy and flagging any discrepancies.
Ensuring that all external references, links, and citations comply with client-specific or industry-standard regulations.
Process Optimization (5%)
Documenting best practices and innovative tools or methods to enhance editorial efficiency.
Staying informed on changing language uses, style guides, and emerging AI editing functionalities.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, applicants should possess:
Strong Editing Background
Professional experience in editing, proofreading, or related editorial roles, showcasing familiarity with popular style guides such as APA, Chicago, or MLA.
Attention to Detail
Strong capability to identify inconsistencies in grammar, voice, punctuation, and formatting, as well as the ability to manage multiple revisions and tight deadlines.
Communication & Collaboration Skills
