Job Responsibilities

Management Duties

As the DCS, you will:

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the Career Services staff, creating a high-performance team.
  • Ensure adequate staffing for the daily operations of Career Services.
  • Establish and monitor KPI metrics that relate to student engagement, retention, and placement outcomes.

Budget and Resource Management

You will develop and manage departmental budgets while providing leadership to Career Services Advisors and Placement Specialists. You are also expected to partner with HR to offer coaching and professional development opportunities, thereby ensuring a high standard of service delivery and staff motivation.

Student Success and Compliance

A significant focus of the DCS role includes:

  • Maintaining the responsibility for tracking and reporting completion and placement outcomes accurately.
  • Ensuring compliance with all institutional policies and accreditation requirements including preparation and submission of ACCET Annual Reports.

Career Readiness & Development

The DCS will oversee:

  • Career preparation services which include:
    • Resume development
    • Interview preparation
    • LinkedIn optimization
    • Job search strategies
  • Conducting workshops and webinars to enhance career readiness.

Strategic Planning and Reporting

You will establish annual goals aligned with institutional priorities and analyze performance data to suggest improvements. Regular reporting and metrics tracking are crucial for the role.

Collaboration and Outreach

Collaboration with various departments such as Education, Industry, Student Services, and Compliance will support student success initiatives. The DCS will participate in significant institutional events such as Orientation and Commencement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be eligible for the Director of Career Services position, the following qualifications are expected:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/management experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years of management experience in higher education or high-volume customer service environments.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in higher education settings.

  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
