Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the integration and development of motor control systems, including system architecture and all related components.
  • Implement and manage fieldbus/communication networks for effective system integration.
  • Collaborate with P&ID's (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and provide essential technical input during the design phases.
  • Ensure compliance with ATEX installation practices and functional safety standards to promote safe operation in hazardous environments.
  • Develop detailed control specifications such as User Requirement Specifications (URS) and Functional Design Specifications (FDS), while defining system requirements and creating schedules to meet client and regulatory demands.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and clients for the successful delivery of projects, and provide mentorship and leadership to junior engineers.

Required Skills

To succeed in this role, candidates need to meet the following qualifications:

  • A degree in Electrical, Control, or Automation Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience leading design delivery of control systems specifically in an industrial automation context.
  • Strong knowledge of ICA (Instrumentation, Control & Automation) design, along with practical experience in PLC, SCADA, and associated systems.
  • In-depth understanding of motor control systems integration into industrial processes.
  • Familiarity with fieldbus/communication networks, such as Profibus, Modbus, and Ethernet/IP.
  • Knowledge of P&ID's and the ability to work effectively with process engineers.
  • Expertise in ATEX installation practices, ensuring solutions adhere to safety standards in hazardous environments.
  • A solid understanding of functional safety standards, including IEC 61508/61511.
  • Experience crafting User Requirement Specifications (URS) and Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
  • Strong project management capabilities, including resource management and schedule development to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Previous leadership experience in a multidisciplinary design environment is crucial for effective team guidance.
