Role Responsibilities

In this leadership position, the successful candidate will engage in a range of responsibilities including:

  • Executing a risk-based audit schedule for field services activities, ensuring the timely and proper execution of audits and safety checks at wind turbine locations.
  • Traveling up to 70% of the time is expected to conduct site visits, training, and audits, engaging directly with operations teams throughout the U.S.
  • Guiding and mentoring EHS Technicians, Service Directors, Hub Managers, and Site Leaders on EHS policies and safety standards while fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Developing and communicating performance metrics for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with GE Vernova and WIND policies as well as applicable regulations, striving to integrate operational excellence and regulatory adherence across teams.
  • Contributing to the strategy development of EHS policies within the region and ensuring effective delivery of safety measures across work sites.
  • Analyzing data to support recommendations, resolve issues, and embed a safety-first culture, including conducting Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) using methodologies like 5-Why or Taproot.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet several educational and experiential qualifications to be considered for the role of Lead EHS Specialist:

  • A bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field along with a minimum of 3 years of EHS service experience.
  • Alternatively, candidates with a high school diploma and at least 5 years of relevant EHS experience may also apply.
  • All applicants must be capable of physically climbing heights of up to 350 feet using ladders or lifts and meet specific weight requirements (less than 250 lbs).

Desired Skills

In addition to qualifications, certain skills are particularly desirable for prospects aiming for this role:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in the Wind Turbine Services or repair sector.
  • Possession of current GWO (Global Wind Organisation) and ART certifications or the ability to obtain and maintain such certifications.
  • Strong capabilities in both oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, and effective leadership.
  • A proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel) for data and metric tracking is also preferred.

Salary and Benefits

The pay range for this full-time role in the United States is set between $85,500 and $142,600, accounting for the candidate’s experience, education, and skills. Additionally, this role is eligible for discretionary annual bonuses and a geographic salary differential may apply based on location.
