The Role

Working Conditions: Candidates can work either in a hybrid model, based in the Bay Area, or fully remote from anywhere in the world. The preferred timezones for applicants include various North American zones such as Central Time (GMT-5) and Pacific Time (GMT-7).

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend services using Python for analytics and data unification.
• Develop APIs and integrations that connect structured and unstructured data to the cognitive engine.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to craft solutions for both the open-source community and enterprise clients.
• Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of systems operating at petabyte scale.
• Write maintainable code and contribute to documentation for the global community of developers.
• Be an active participant in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and engagements within the open-source landscape.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess:

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Python and backend frameworks like FastAPI or Flask.
• Experience in building scalable APIs and distributed systems capable of handling high-volume data.
• Extensive knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and data modeling techniques.
• Familiarity with unstructured data handling and connecting with diverse data sources.
• Understanding cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the adaptability to thrive within a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to Have: Background in AI/ML frameworks, MLOps, or tools for developers would be beneficial. Experience with open-source projects, knowledge of event-driven architectures, and startup experience would also be favorable.
