Job Details

As a Functional Specialist, the main responsibility will be to conduct unbiased and thorough assessments for the Government's disability allowance (PIP). This involves ensuring a personalised, inclusive, and empathetic service for every service user. The role requires handling various caseloads end-to-end, engaging in both face-to-face and virtual assessments, as well as performing telephone assessments and preparing paper-based reports.

Skills Required

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Qualifications: Must be a qualified Nurse, Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or Paramedic.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of post-qualification experience is necessary.
  • Registration: Must hold a valid, unrestricted registration on NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) or HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council).
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills and strong IT literacy are essential in this position.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for the Nurse Assessor role ranges from £35,000 to £39,500, with the potential for increases based on successful completion of training stages. Additionally, there is:

  • Assessing a broad spectrum of health conditions and disabilities that may affect claimants, such as physical, sensory, mental, intellectual, and cognitive impairments.
  • Managing your workload with time allocated for breaks, continuing professional development (CPD), audit amendments, and team meetings.
  • You will be responsible for delivering assessments and providing initial review calls and other services to meet the needs of claimants.
