Role and Responsibilities

As a Lead Analytics Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in developing scalable data solutions which facilitate actionable insights to inform strategic business decisions. Your responsibilities will be split into three significant areas: technical leadership, project & team leadership, and strategic contributions.

Technical Leadership

In your technical leadership role, you will:

  • Design, optimize, and scale end-to-end data pipelines and a cloud-based infrastructure for analytics, reporting, and machine learning applications.

  • Manage data integration and transformation processes, ensuring data accuracy, accessibility, and readiness for analytical processes.

  • Implement modern analytics tools, such as dbt and Looker, to deliver scalable and maintainable data solutions.

  • Define and enforce standards for data modeling, data governance, compliance, and monitoring, ensuring that the data solutions are robust and future-proof.

  • Drive the evaluation of emerging technologies to align architectural decisions with future data needs.

Project & Team Leadership

In leading projects, you will:

  • Oversee complex initiatives that span multiple teams and domains.

  • Set clear project directions, ensure timely outputs, and uphold high-quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions that meet stakeholder needs.

  • Mentor team members, particularly data analysts and analytics engineers, on overcoming technical challenges and best practices in the industry.

Strategic Contribution

You will collaborate with company leadership to ensure the data platform aligns with ambitious business goals. This involves:

  • Identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and overall business impact through data utilization.

  • Fostering a collaborative culture of data-driven decision-making, and facilitating knowledge sharing across teams.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the Lead Analytics Engineer position, you should have:


  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline, or commensurate practical experience.

  • At least 7 years of experience in data engineering or analytics, focusing on scalable, impactful solutions.

  • A minimum of 1 year in a senior role, showing leadership and cross-team collaboration capabilities.

  • Proficiency in cloud-native environments, particularly BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.

Required Technical Skills

For this position, technical skills should include:

  • Advanced knowledge in SQL and Python.

  • Extensive experience using modern analytics tools such as dbt, Fivetran, and Airflow.

  • Proficient understanding of data modelling and ELT/ETL pipelines, with a strong command of cloud data warehouses.

  • Familiarity with machine learning pipelines, predictive modeling, or AutoML is a significant plus.
