  • Preparing various legal documents using templates, including motions, memoranda, correspondence, and discovery documents.
  • Assisting AUSAs with trial preparations, compiling trial notebooks, and preparing jury instructions.
  • Opening and maintaining organized case files, including calendar management for active cases.
  • Handling all aspects of travel logistics according to Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) and guidelines set by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
  • Sorting incoming and preparing outgoing mail while ensuring effective communication through phone and written correspondence.

Necessary Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet certain requirements and possess key skills:

  • A paralegal certificate, JD, or enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of legal education.
  • One year of legal training or experience is ideal, but at least two years of college education may substitute for the paralegal certificate.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a litigation paralegal or related project experience is essential, with trial experience considered advantageous.
  • Familiarity with automated litigation support tools is valuable, along with a solid understanding of legal citations and the ability to perform legal research using tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary for effective coordination and documentation.
  • Proficiency in a range of computer applications, particularly in word processing, databases, and spreadsheets, is critical.
  • Basic knowledge of ESI tools and familiarity with eDiscovery procedures will be beneficial.
