Role Overview

DoorDash is seeking a strategic and globally minded People Business Partner to play a key role in supporting the People and IT organizations. Responsibilities

In this role, the People Business Partner will work closely with senior executives in the People and IT departments to ensure that business goals are effectively translated into actionable people strategies and organizational designs.

Key Duties Include:

  • Leading Strategic Workforce Planning: Collaborating with both functions to identify future capability needs and succession plans, thus ensuring the company is prepared for growth.

  • Driving Talent Development Programs: Implementing initiatives that are tailored to nurture a globally distributed and hybrid workforce, ensuring all employees have access to growth opportunities.

  • Providing Guidance on Employee Relations: advising on sensitive matters concerning employee relations, change management, and improving leadership effectiveness.

  • Partnering with HR Centers of Excellence (CoEs): This includes working together with teams specializing in Talent, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) to roll out company-wide initiatives that consider local nuances.

  • Leveraging People Data: Using HR information systems to influence decisions and develop action plans aimed at driving accountability among business leaders.

  • Supporting Mergers & Acquisitions: Assisting in integration and change management efforts during business evolution.

  • Promoting an Inclusive Culture: Encouraging a culture of inclusion, innovation, and resilience through careful coaching and enablement of leadership.

Who You Are

To excel in this role, candidates should possess a unique combination of skills and experiences:

  • 8–10+ years of HR experience: Of which at least three years should be in a business partner role specifically supporting corporate functions such as IT or People teams.

  • Global HR Experience: Ideal candidates will have worked in multi-region organizations with distributed workforces and have valuable experience in mergers and acquisitions.

  • Strategic Thinking Skills: Candidates should demonstrate an ability to think strategically while also being willing to get hands-on and execute necessary tasks.

  • Analytical Mindset: Comfort with HRIS systems (preferably Workday) and experience with people analytics is essential.

  • Leadership Qualities: The ideal candidate will exhibit strong emotional intelligence, humility, and courage.

  • Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage projects from inception through execution.

  • Education Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree is required, while an advanced degree or certification in HR or Organizational Psychology is a significant advantage.


Team Dynamics and Expectations

The role operates under specific norms:

  • Collaboration: Involves weekly team syncs and asynchronous collaboration via platforms like Slack and Notion.
  • Communication: Regular transparent updates are shared among the team to ensure everyone is aligned.
  • Availability: The team operates on a flexible schedule with core overlap between 8 AM and 12 PM EST.
  • Meetings: Designed to be intentional and inclusive, ensuring written records of decisions.
  • Social Interactions: Monthly virtual team coffees and quarterly offsite gatherings foster team bonding.

Success Metrics

Performance in the role will be judged based on key metrics including:

  • Leadership satisfaction ratings (e.g., NPS from partner organizations).
  • Attrition and engagement scores from business units.
  • Effectiveness of talent planning and succession readiness measures.
  • Organizational health and effectiveness assessments.
  • Successful delivery of performance and compensation cycles.

Compensation

The starting salary for the position ranges from $136,000 to $200,000 USD. This range is localized according to the employee’s work location and may vary based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. In addition to the base salary, opportunities for equity grants are also offered.
