The role available is for a People & Compliance Partner, a position that focuses on driving people-centric practices across all company regions while ensuring that compliance is adhered to. This role primarily encompasses activities related to compliance, employee relations, and industrial relations. As an individual contributor, you will enable and support the company’s growth by managing performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes, while also supporting the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment plan.
You will report directly to the Head of Organizational Development and act as the in-house expert on various transactional processes, including S189 procedures, performance improvement plans, and compliance initiatives. Your expertise will also lend itself to broader initiatives, guiding leaders through IR-related challenges using a coaching style and a hands-on approach.
The position includes various responsibilities, categorized as follows:
Providing advice and guidance to leaders on employee relations while ensuring compliance with the company’s code of conduct and relevant legislation.
Managing processes related to performance improvement plans, counseling sessions, grievance procedures, and representing the company in conduct or incapacity hearings.
Supporting the Senior Vice President of People with restructuring initiatives like S189A processes and ensuring internal policies align with legislation in collaboration with external labor consultants.
Implementing the B-BBEE strategy, focusing on skills development, enterprise development, socio-economic development initiatives, and participation in the Y.E.S initiative.
Collating evidence for the Annual B-BBEE Audit and coordinating intern placements while managing vendor agreements and payments to beneficiating parties.
Contributing to the development and execution of people-centric initiatives to maintain a global and diverse company culture.
Guiding and training management on performance management best practices, coaching them through performance reviews, delivering feedback, and navigating challenging concise issues related to IR.
Candidates suitable for this role should possess the following qualifications and experience:
A relevant degree in Human Resources Management or Industrial Psychology, or equivalent certifications along with HR/IR certifications.
A minimum of 5 years of experience within an HR function, including at least 3 years of engaging with leaders on labor relations.
Demonstrated capability in developing and implementing performance improvement and disciplinary processes in alignment with South African labor law and BEE legislation.
Proven experience in managing intricate employee relations issues, especially in a high-growth setting with a preference for experience in Technology, Fintech, and SaaS environments.
Familiarity with various technological tools such as Excel, Slack, OneDrive, BambooHR, Confluence, and MS Teams as well as the ability to report on metrics efficiently.
Strong conflict resolution skills to navigate difficult conversations to productive conclusions.
The ideal candidate may also have:
A background in facilitating group training or coaching initiatives, particularly management and professional skills training.
A capacity for supporting leaders in IR-related conversations and transactional processes beyond merely adhering to “tick-box” approaches.
Experience in adapting to dynamic and high-growth environments effectively.
