Role Expectations

The People Operations Specialist will have a cross-functional role that encompasses HR operations, benefits management, and enhancing the in-office experience. Key Responsibilities

The position has specific responsibilities divided into two major components:

HR Operations (60%)

  • Maintain and optimize the HRIS (Human Resource Information System) such as Leapsome and Deel, as well as confidential employee records and compliance documentation.
  • Assist the Head of People in documenting employee relations matters and ensuring that records are accurate and securely maintained.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding of employees throughout different teams while sustaining people programs, policy updates, and performance tracking.
  • Facilitate the administration of training programs and manage relationships with vendors.
  • Address internal HR-related queries with diligence and escalate when necessary.
  • Coordinate the administration of employee benefits, including enrollments, significant changes, and renewals.
  • Conduct and analyze regular reports on employee engagement feedback to drive insights.
  • Conduct regular audits to maintain data integrity within the HR system.
  • Provide ad-hoc support for talent acquisition during periods of employee absence.

Office Operations (30%)

  • Manage the Toronto office, ensuring it remains a productive and appealing workspace for team members.
  • Track office-related expenses and assist the Finance team in budget reconciliation.
  • Coordinate team events, supplies, and office improvements aimed at enhancing the workplace experience.
  • Be the main point of contact for basic office IT support and escalate more complex issues as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Candidates for this role must meet specific qualifications and possess a range of skills:


  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years working in HR or People Operations roles, with knowledge of Canadian employment standards. Familiarity with American standards is considered a bonus.
  • Technical Competence: Proficiency with HRIS tools (Leapsome, Deel), and strong skills in data analysis and Excel (including pivot tables and conditional formulas).
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in problem-solving.
  • Professionalism: Able to handle confidential data discreetly and professionally.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to work effectively within a collaborative environment.
  • Proactive Attitude: Strong willingness to learn new skills and address challenges head-on.

Preferred Qualifications
