Job Responsibilities

In this role, the Principal Engineer will be tasked with several key responsibilities:

  1. Requirement Generation and Consistency: The candidate will need to ensure that there is consistency in the requirement set for twelve major Command and Instrumentation (C&I) systems, including Distributed Control Systems and Vehicle Control Systems.

  2. C&I Design Support: Supporting overarching C&I design efforts for various sub-systems such as Secondary Propulsion, Platform Mechanical and Electrical is a critical requirement.

  3. Stakeholder Management: The role demands managing various stakeholders effectively, ensuring consistency across the Centralized C&I team.

  4. Functional Design Development: The engineer will develop functional designs for systems within the scope of the Centralized C&I.

  5. Compliance Assessment: Assessing designs for compliance with requirements and mitigating design risk as much as possible forms a vital part of the job.

  6. Engineering Guidance: The candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and instruction on engineering methods and processes for delivering the engineering delivery plan.

  7. Team Development: Working with the Engineering Delivery Team, the Principal Engineer will help nurture the technical skills of team members.

Required Skills and Experience

Essential Skills

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Degree Qualification: A degree in an Engineering discipline is a fundamental requirement.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in a regulated industry such as Defence, Oil and Gas, or Nuclear is crucial.
  • C&I Design Knowledge: Professional knowledge in C&I design throughout its lifecycle is necessary.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Strong stakeholder management and communication skills are also essential, along with a well-developed understanding of full lifecycle requirements management.

Desirable Skills

Additionally, the following skills are desirable but not mandatory:

  • Experience in Supplier Requirements management would be beneficial.
