Essential Responsibilities

As a Risk Control Specialist, candidates will be tasked with several important responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Completing on-site risk control surveys for both current and prospective policyholders in sophisticated operational environments.

  • Engaging in consultations to identify and address the service needs and concerns of policyholders, thereby providing tailored solutions to improve safety and operational efficiency.
  • Being a primary technical resource within a specialized focus area and extending technical guidance within the team.
  • Collaborating with team members and subject matter experts to find solutions to complex technical questions and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Updating departmental teams such as Underwriting, Sales, and Claims about unique observations and findings from risk control practices that could influence renewal decisions.
  • Marketing risk control functions through agency engagement and presentations, effectively detailing business operations, hazards, and risk management controls.
  • Delivering training programs and conducting on-site loss control surveys to current and potential accounts, thus facilitating a deeper understanding of effective risk management practices.
  • Developing strong, positive relationships with accounts and agents, promoting continuous service or revisiting focused short-term service as required.

Education & Experience Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree, ideally in a field related to safety, engineering, industrial safety, fire protection, or similar relevant qualifications.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in risk control, safety roles, or related sectors.
  • Preferred certifications include a Certified Safety Professional designation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Candidates should exhibit the following skills and competencies:

  • Proficiency in using various computer applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge base concerning safety in industrial, construction, fire, and commercial automotive sectors.
  • Familiarity with various national safety codes and standards, including those from OSHA, DOT, and NFP.
  • An adeptness in understanding and evaluating risk, while also possessing effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Upholding superior customer service skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines is essential.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including documentation abilities.

Salary & Benefits

The hiring salary range for this role is geographically dependent, varying between $90,635 to $124,914, or $99,924 to $137,714. The actual salary may vary based on various factors such as candidates’ relevant education, skills, experience, and the business needs at the time of hiring.
