Overview of Role

ZwitterCo is actively seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to become a pivotal contributor to their innovative team. Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for this role are as follows:

  • Serve as both an internal and customer-facing expert for ZwitterCo products and targeted applications/markets, focusing particularly on opportunities present in Europe.

  • Collaborate with the sales team during the customer discovery process to evaluate commercial opportunities, assessing their technical feasibility and risk.

  • Provide essential post-sales technical support for partners and end-users, ensuring customer success through site visits to monitor product performance or troubleshoot any issues.

  • Develop systematic guidelines for process and system design for spiral-wound membrane products aimed at integration and fabrication partners in target applications and markets.

  • Lead the development of ZwitterCo's internal knowledge database by assimilating existing research and planning internal studies to gather product performance data.

  • Create detailed customer proposals, entailing design and cost estimates for membrane systems using internal datasets, alongside proofreading and reviewing proposals written by junior applications engineers.

  • Facilitate in-person and online technical training sessions for OEM engineers and end-users.

  • Evaluate, mitigate, and communicate technical risks associated with new projects or partnerships.

  • Author technical guidance documents, delivering both oral and written presentations to customers, industry partners, and ZwitterCo business leaders as necessary.

  • Mentor less experienced members of the applications engineering team.

Required Qualifications

To qualify for the Senior Applications Engineer position at ZwitterCo, candidates must possess certain educational and experiential credentials:

  • A university degree in an engineering discipline is essential unless the candidate has extensive previous work experience relevant to the role. Degrees in chemical, environmental, or mechanical engineering are preferred.

  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience with crossflow membrane systems is highly desired.

  • Subject matter expertise in at least one of the following fields:

    • Design and operation of industrial and/or brackish reverse osmosis (RO) systems.
    • Design and operation of food processing membrane systems (including sanitary RO/NF/UF).
  • Broad knowledge of non-membrane water and wastewater treatment technologies like coagulation/flocculation and dissolved air flotation.

  • Familiarity with current product lines for RO/NF/UF membranes available in the market.

  • Excellent communication skills—both written and oral—are required, including comfort with public speaking (hosting training sessions, webinars, etc.). Fluency in English is mandatory, while French and/or Arabic proficiency is highly desired.

  • Awareness of local practices and regulations affecting water and wastewater treatment is a plus.

Working Conditions and Expectations

This full-time position is fully remote, catering to candidates located in Europe. However, access to a major international airport is beneficial due to the expected 25% travel requirement. Travel mainly involves site visits for customer success and attending conferences, with most trips anticipated to be short in duration (2-3 nights). Additionally, the role may necessitate travel to ZwitterCo offices in the US for meetings, training, and workshops on several occasions throughout the year.
