The Senior EPC Estimator will support cost estimation for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, initially focusing on Australia. This position is part of the application engineering team, which collaborates with application engineers, project execution teams, and commercial teams. As Energy Vault grows and expands its contracts globally, this role will be crucial in managing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) proposal processes worldwide.
Create turnkey construction Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and coordinate with procurement and project execution teams to identify suitable construction partners.
Collaborate across teams to gather information and resources essential for designing customer-centric solutions, ensuring all requirements are met in the RFP/RFQ package.
Conduct techno-economic analyses aimed at optimizing design solutions from a constructability perspective.
Understand environmental, geotechnical, and hydrological reports and how they affect civil construction costs.
Perform electrical and civil take-offs and generate accurate construction estimates.
Develop tools and processes to continuously improve Energy Vault's customer proposals and offerings.
Interpret and create Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and site layouts that effectively communicate proposed solutions.
Work with team leads to identify strategic partnerships that align with project goals.
A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience within Energy Storage Systems (ESS) or related Renewable Generation technologies.
At least 5 years of experience in construction estimation relating to Renewable Energy Systems.
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, or equivalent) is strongly preferred, although not mandatory.
Being a licensed electrician in Australia is a plus as it complements the technical requirements of the role.
Previous experience in negotiating EPC contracts with subcontractors is essential.
An understanding of electrical power systems focused on generation, distribution, and storage will be beneficial.
Knowledge of NEC, IBC, IEC, and IEEE requirements in renewable energy and storage and experience in electrical design, including conductor sizing, protection and controls configuration, and substation design concepts.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
