Job Overview

Toptal is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer for its Core AI Team. This role involves working on AI projects across the company, integrating new technologies and best practices in AI. Initial Expectations

First Week

In your initial week, you can expect to:

• Participate in company-wide training sessions that will guide you through the basics.

• Set up your local environment and familiarize yourself with the tech stack.

• Create your first pull request, starting your journey with Toptal directly.

First Month

Within your first month, you'll likely:

• Familiarize yourself with the team’s business domain and ongoing projects.

• Start contributing significantly to product development tasks.

• Gain a deeper understanding of the technology, processes, and product life-cycle at Toptal.

• Regularly attend meetings such as daily briefings and retrospectives to stay aligned with the team's progress.

  

First Six Months

After six months, you are expected to:

• Lead technical initiatives within your team and guide teams towards achieving project goals.

• Drive enhancements to the codebase and team processes ensuring efficiency.

First Year

By the end of your first year, you should:

• Have an extensive understanding of Toptal’s technical stack, collaboration practices, and general workflows.

• Mentor new team members, sharing your expertise and insights to elevate the overall performance of the group.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To qualify for this job, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• At least 3 years of experience with Next.js.

• A firm grasp of backend development principles, clean code practices, and databases along with testing best practices.

• Understanding of multiple product quality dimensions such as user impact, code maintenance, security, and performance.

• Proficiency in modern JavaScript, preferably TypeScript, and React.

• Familiarity with Supabase and Vercel, as well as a basic understanding of Python, is considered a plus.

• An enthusiastic approach to technology, openness to learning and trying new things, and outstanding communication skills, including written and verbal abilities.

• Problem-solving capability, with a willingness to weigh different solutions and choose the best approach.

• A strong willingness to give and receive constructive feedback, thriving in a dynamic work environment.

• Ability to cope with the demands of a fast-paced, rapidly evolving company setting and manage diverse challenges effectively.
