Position Overview

The role of Senior Product Manager at CyberNut centers on enhancing the human experience of the product across an entire school district. The ideal candidate will uniquely address the needs of two primary audiences: students and the faculty and staff surrounding them. The core responsibility includes creating engaging and meaningful experiences that resonate with both users while ensuring the product's effectiveness and usability in real-world educational settings. Key tasks will involve direct engagement with educators, students, and administrators to analyze their experiences, gather feedback, and implement changes that promote user engagement.

Responsibilities

The Senior Product Manager will:

  • Own the product direction focused on student and staff experiences, overseeing everything from validated problem statements to the actual design and launch of products.

  • Utilize AI prototyping tools like Claude to develop interactive prototypes rapidly. Prototypes should be advanced and almost complete before being passed to the UI/UX team for final adjustments.

  • Engage in customer discovery by engaging with educators, district personnel, students, and other relevant stakeholders regularly to ensure the product meets their needs and drives adoption.

  • Maintain a disciplined approach to prioritization of features, balancing stakeholder requests while safeguarding the strategic vision of the product.

  • Write clear and comprehensive problem statements and Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) to navigate the gated product development process effectively.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to validate project feasibility before production begins, ensuring alignment between product vision and technical capabilities.

  • Work closely with Customer Success, Sales, and Marketing teams on product launches, ensuring alignment and readiness for customer engagement.

  • Define metrics to track performance and effectiveness in changing user behavior and improving engagement among both students and staff.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates for this role must possess:

  • Over 5 years of product management experience, showcasing senior or lead-level ownership of a product or significant product area.

  • In-depth knowledge of K-12 EdTech product development, specifically concerning creating digital products that serve students and educators effectively.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI prototyping tools—experience in creating working prototypes is essential for this role.

  • Experience conducting customer discovery, emphasizing firsthand Insight rather than outsourcing this critical function.

  • A comprehensive understanding of the K-12 landscape, including school calendar rhythms, decision-making processes, and user realities.

  • Fluency in compliance and privacy laws relevant to education, including FERPA and COPPA.

  • Strong judgment and the ability to push back against stakeholder pressures when necessary.

  • Excellent writing ability and adaptability to thrive in a remote startup environment.

  • Basic technical knowledge sufficient to engage meaningfully with engineering teams regarding data models and integrations.

Preferred Qualifications

There are also desired experiences and skills for candidates:

  • Familiarity with integration platforms and deployments, such as Clever, ClassLink, and Google Workspace for Education.

  • Background in designing instructional content or engagement strategies that ensure robust participation from both students and staff.

  • Knowledge of gamification principles and their application in educational contexts.

  • Experience in cybersecurity or security awareness education is a plus.

Working Conditions and Benefits

CyberNut promotes a remote-first work environment, allowing flexibility for its employees. The company values a high-trust culture and focuses on depth of talent rather than sheer numbers. A successful candidate will find themselves part of a small, focused team committed to shaping innovative products for schools.

The company provides various benefits, including access to group health, dental, and vision insurance plans, basic life insurance, 18 days of paid time off (PTO), and 8 paid holidays.

Compensation

The salary for the Senior Product Manager position ranges between $100K to $150K. This compensation range reflects the experience and expertise required for leading product initiatives centered on security awareness training in educational settings.

Conclusion

In summary, the Senior Product Manager role at CyberNut represents a unique opportunity to drive impactful product development within the education sector. Candidates should be prepared to leverage innovative tools and methods to enhance user engagement and satisfaction among students and faculty alike while contributing to the growth and direction of CyberNut as it expands its vital services to K-12 institutions.
