The key responsibilities for the Senior Regulatory Technologist position include:
Lead and oversee global regulatory compliance processes for cosmetics in multiple markets
Interpret and apply various cosmetic legislation, providing clear regulatory guidance to internal stakeholders
Review raw materials and formulations for compliance with regional legislation and ethical claims such as cruelty-free, vegan, sustainability, and plastic reduction
Compile, review, and approve Product Information Files (PIFs) and Technical Files to meet market-specific requirements
Manage submissions and notifications to regulatory bodies
Serve as the primary contact point for regulatory authorities, distributors, and key retail customers regarding compliance matters
Collaborate with test houses and toxicologists to ensure timely safety assessments
Support product launches, ensuring all regulatory approvals and documentation are completed per timelines
Mentor junior team members in the regulatory department
Monitor changes in legislation and communicate updates effectively to the wider organization
Manage and maintain the regulatory IT system for an allocated portfolio of products
Applicants should possess the following qualifications and expertise:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline
A minimum of 4 to 6 years of regulatory experience within the cosmetics or personal care industry
A thorough understanding of UK Cosmetics Regulation, EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, and US cosmetic legislation, with knowledge of relevant regulations in the Middle East, ANZ, and South America
Proven experience in compiling and reviewing Product Information Files (PIFs)
Familiarity with managing retailer compliance standards and global submissions
Comfort in interpreting legislation and offering pragmatic, commercial guidance
Passionate about sustainability, ethical sourcing, and responsible innovation
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
Strong communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset suitable for a fast-paced environment
Professional certifications such as completion of the SCS Diploma may be advantageous
