Responsibilities

As a Senior Research Scientist, you will be responsible for several essential tasks aimed at advancing research goals:

  • Collaboratively define and innovate computational approaches and tools tailored to meet dynamic research objectives.

  • Develop a knowledgebase that aids in understanding the connections (or "cross talk") between various databases. This includes mapping out similar and dissimilar information from varied data feeds while documenting business logic to track how specific data columns are populated.

  • Create and refine new workflows to effectively clean, reformat, integrate, and prepare data for analysis.

  • Evaluate the tools employed for their accuracy and adequacy in displaying information.

  • Provide assistance and guidance to users regarding database contents, utilizing advanced Excel functions, Oracle SQL queries, as well as tools like Knime, Tableau, and Python Jupyter Notebooks.

  • Collaborate within teams or work independently to meet project deadlines efficiently.

  • Maintain effective communication with clients and stakeholders while producing clear and concise project documentation.

  • Engage in presentations and demonstrations of the database at conferences or relevant institutions.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, or a related field is required.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in toxicology, chemistry, pharmacology, or a similar field is required, or relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

In addition to the fundamental requirements, the following skills and qualifications are preferred:

  • Strong background in toxicology or related scientific fields, ideally toxicogenomics, immunology, chemistry, or pre-clinical research.

  • Familiarity with relational databases (especially Oracle SQL) and data integration tools like Knime, Tableau, and Jupyter Notebooks.

  • Knowledge of GLP regulations is important alongside proficiency with Provantis.

  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills are essential.

  • High proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.

  • Capability to understand scientific literature and experimental procedures, along with critical thinking and attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while working independently or collaboratively within a team.
