Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, you will be integral to the evolution of the IAM system that supports all Vonage products and users. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Designing and Developing: Contribute to the design and development of the IAM service using modern technologies and identity standards such as OpenID Connect, JWT, and SAML.

• System Development: Engage in hands-on software development for backend services, implementing and maintaining REST APIs focused on scalability, availability, and security.

• Collaboration: Work with a globally distributed team to develop CI/CD and infrastructure deployment strategies for IAM that aim for 99.99999% availability.

• Feature Implementation: Support new IAM features requested by the Product Team, exhibiting a collaborative spirit within the team.

• Frontend Contribution: Occasionally contribute to frontend (web) tasks as necessary. While some web knowledge is a plus, it is not a strict requirement.

• Performance Improvement: Help evaluate and improve the service quality through effective monitoring, metrics collection, and performance enhancements.

• AI Integration: Explore and integrate AI-powered tools into the software development lifecycle to enhance efficiency, automation, and code quality.

Required Skills

To be successful in this role, the following skills and qualifications are essential:

• Proficiency in an imperative programming language (Golang is preferred, but any imperative language is acceptable).
• A strong understanding of RESTful APIs and backend development.
• Familiarity with Docker and container-based architectures.
• Comfortable utilizing Git in a trunk-based development environment.
• Knowledge of Continuous Deployment principles and tools.

Additionally, the following experiences are considered a plus:

• Exposure to frontend technologies (e.g., basic Vue, HTML/CSS).
• Experience in AWS, especially IAM-relevant services.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and orchestration tools like ArgoCD and Helm.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, particularly using Jenkins.
• Knowledge of infrastructure components like nginx, envoy, Kafka, Redis, Vault, Nomad, or Consul.
