Job Overview

Soltech is seeking an experienced MDM Data Engineer to join their team, primarily focused on designing, building, and maintaining data integrations with the EnterWorks MDM hub. This role is foundational for developing robust ETL/ELT pipelines and enhancing overall data quality and synchronization across the organization. The engineer will work collaboratively under the guidance of the Senior MDM Lead, alongside another data engineer, to deliver effective technical integration components for a Customer MDM solution.

Key Responsibilities

Integration Development

The engineer will be tasked with several important integration development duties, including:

  • Building source-to-stage integrations to pull customer data from various ERP systems (like AS400, Sage variants) and Salesforce CRM.

  • Developing stage-to-hub data flows to load cleansed and matched customer records into EnterWorks.

  • Constructing hub-to-ERP integrations to enable the bidirectional synchronization of master customer data.

  • Implementing data transformation and mapping rules based on predefined logical party model specifications.

  • Creating data validation routines to ensure high-quality data throughout the pipeline.

Technical Implementation

In terms of technical implementation, the MDM Data Engineer will need to:

  • Configure and implement data quality rules in the EnterWorks platform, ensuring checks for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.

  • Develop match/merge algorithms to support the creation of a ‘golden record’ of customer data.

  • Create and execute data migration scripts for initial loads of customer data.

  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to validate integrations and support continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.

Technical Assessment & Documentation

A significant part of the role involves:

  • Conducting technical assessments of source system data structures and APIs to ensure compatibility and effective integration.

  • Documenting technical specifications, including data mappings and transformation logic.

  • Profiling source data to validate discovery findings and inform the development of data quality rules.

Collaboration & Communication

Collaboration with various stakeholders is essential. Key aspects include:

  • Partnering with the Senior MDM Lead to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Coordinating with the MDM Hub Developer on EnterWorks configuration and data flow design.

  • Engaging in technical discussions with client subject matter experts to finalize source system access and integration approaches.

Required Qualifications

Candidates applying for the position must possess the following necessary qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or data integration roles.

  • Proficiency with ETL/ELT tools (Informatica and Fivetran preferred, but similar tools like Talend and SSIS are acceptable).

  • Expertise in using SQL and experience with relational databases.

  • Practical experience integrating ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, AS400, Sage, or similar.

  • Familiarity with REST and SOAP API integrations and an understanding of data quality frameworks.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven experience in collaborating effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following preferred qualifications will have an edge:

  • Experience integrating Salesforce systems and using Salesforce APIs.

  • Background in manufacturing or distribution environments.

  • Familiarity with AS400/IBM data extraction techniques.

  • Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages for data processing.

  • Understanding of data governance and stewardship practices.

  • Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and CI/CD processes for managing data pipelines.
