This position leverages over 100 WarpStream clusters operating across multiple cloud environments, to handle extensive throughput and enhance the services offered to users.

Key Responsibilities

In this hands-on technical role, you will:

• Operate and evolve streaming clusters and database infrastructure
• Analyze and troubleshoot cross-layer issues like latency and performance regressions
• Design and implement safe upgrade and rollout strategies at scale
• Improve automation and operational ergonomics while ensuring observability
• Collaborate effectively with both database and platform teams to support safe scaling and performance optimization
• Serve as the primary escalation contact for incident management

As a Staff Engineer, you'll also take on informal technical leadership responsibilities. This includes overseeing complex initiatives, establishing best practices, and mentoring junior engineers as the team matures.

Skills and Experience Required

To be a good fit for this role, candidates should possess:

• 8+ years of engineering experience, particularly in SRE, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or related fields
• Strong familiarity with high-throughput streaming systems and large-scale database infrastructure
• Proficiency in Kubernetes, and experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, including infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform
• An understanding of distributed systems at scale and their inherent failure modes
• Skills in a systems-oriented programming language, preferably Go
• Strong communication skills with a proven ability to work autonomously across diverse teams
