Job Description

The Technical Writer position is situated on the Customer and Developer Experience team at Visa. As a Technical Writer, your primary responsibility will involve collaborating with various experts within the company to create developer guides, API reference documentation, and other educational materials aimed at helping developers maximize their use of the Pismo platform. Your tasks will include developing new external content sourced from internal documentation and updating existing resources, ensuring the accuracy of code samples and instructions. Additionally, you'll be actively involved in initiatives designed to establish style guidelines and processes, thereby enhancing the overall developer experience at Pismo.

Key Responsibilities:

• Write clear and concise documentation that educates external developers regarding Pismo’s features and functionalities.

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other team members to gather source information, obtain technical reviews, and test code samples as required.

• Work in tandem with engineers to edit reference specification files, create code samples, and publish Postman collections.

• Edit, reorganize, and verify the accuracy of existing developer guides.

• Cooperate with the design team to craft user experience content.

• Participate in team initiatives to establish writing styles and processes, contributing to the internal knowledge-sharing culture.

This position is remote, which means that job duties do not need to be performed near a Visa office location. However, remote employees may occasionally need to be present at a Visa office with prior notice.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following basic qualifications:

• Must reside in the UK.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing.
• A Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, computer science, or a related field is necessary.
• Proven ability to write effective technical content intended for a developer audience.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and OpenAPI standards is essential.
• Familiarity with JSON and Postman is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, especially with remote cross-functional team members, are vital.
• Proficiency with various authoring, content management systems (CMS), and task management tools such as Readme, Confluence, and JIRA are important.
• Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively, alongside a keen ability to learn new skills promptly.
• Knowledge of technical writing standards and common style guides is expected.

Preferred Qualifications

While the above qualifications are essential, the following preferred qualifications would be beneficial:

• Experience in the Fintech, Banking, or Payments sector is desirable.
• Familiarity with writing user experience (UX) text is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Portuguese is a strong plus.
