Required Experience

Platform Architecture

  • Experience in designing multi-tenant or multi-domain lakehouse platforms like Fabric, Databricks, Azure Synapse, Snowflake, among others.

  • Candidates must be well-versed in establishing pragmatic governance frameworks involving rights, roles, budgets, and access controls. Experience in operationalizing Row-Level Security (RLS) and Column-Level Security (CLS) at scale is crucial.

Responsibilities

The Fabric Platform Data Architect will have a wide array of responsibilities, including:

Platform Foundation Ownership

  • Design and configure Fabric’s tenants, domains, capacity groups, and workspaces, defining strategies for development, testing, and production workspace topologies.

Governance and Access Management

  • Establish Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) models, naming conventions, tags, and approval workflows.

Catalogue and Lineage Management

  • Stand up collections in Microsoft Purview and manage glossary governance along with sensitivity labels and end-to-end artifact lineage.

Security and Privacy

  • Perform audits, integrate with Azure policies, and implement logging strategies to facilitate policy adherence.

Cost Management and FinOps

  • Monitor usage, forecast spending, and set budgets to optimize overall cost-effectiveness while recommending workload optimizations.

Operational Excellence

  • Define Service Level Objectives (SLOs), alerts, backup strategies, and lead incident reviews, maintaining the platform roadmaps.

Enablement and Communication

  • Conduct architecture reviews and training for teams while ensuring all necessary documentation and decision logs are maintained.
