Responsibilities

As a WordPress Developer at Uncanny Owl, you will be tasked with a variety of day-to-day responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Building new Automator integrations (triggers and actions) for third-party plugins and applications.

• Scoping, developing, and testing product enhancements, features, and add-ons of differing complexities.

• Collaborating with team members to fix bugs reported by users and internal staff.

• Refactoring legacy code while ensuring backward compatibility.

• Reviewing pull requests (PRs) via GitHub and offering constructive feedback to teammates.

• Alternating between front-end and back-end tasks as necessary to meet project goals.

• Communicating effectively with the team using different modalities (chat, audio, video).

Skills and Qualifications

Required Skills

Candidates must possess a strong skill set and relevant experience to be considered for this role:

• 3+ years of WordPress plugin development experience, specifically with plugin architecture and WordPress standards.

• 4+ years of advanced proficiency in PHP, including knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), autoloading, namespacing, traits, and interfaces.

• Expertise in AI-assisted development, showcasing the ability to use AI tools to enhance productivity without compromising creativity.

• Familiarity with third-party API integration, especially with services like Stripe, Drip, Zapier, Google, and MailChimp.

• Mastery of WordPress hooks, including actions and filters, and knowing when to apply them.

• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and writing PHP unit tests.

• Skills in UI/UX design and basic DevOps or infrastructure management capabilities.
