  • Support Stakeholders: Work independently with diverse stakeholders to scope out AI/ML projects and enhance the accuracy of actuarial reserves.

  • Collaborate with Data Scientists: Partner with fellow data scientists to develop AI/ML models using varied data sources such as medical claims, prior authorization documents, and vision data.

  • Lead Model Development: Be responsible for the development and production of AI/ML models across all lines of UnitedHealth Group's business using cloud technology solutions like Databricks and Snowflake.

  • Monitor AI/ML Models: Support the creation of capabilities for AI/ML applications, including model monitoring tools and automated jobs in Databricks.

  • Coordinate with IT: Engage with IT partners for the necessary hardware and software infrastructure, ensuring that solutions comply with UHG standards and align with broader AI/ML strategies.

Required Skills

The ideal candidate should possess a combination of experience and skills to thrive in this role. Required qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of Industry Experience: Demonstrated experience in consulting or proficiency in self-learning.

  • Healthcare Domain Knowledge: Proficiency in the healthcare industry gained through work in data science or advanced analytics roles.

  • Programming Skills: High-level programming capabilities in languages like Python or R.

  • Version Control: Familiarity with Git (e.g., GitHub) and knowledge of DevOps and agile methodologies.
