Job Overview

The position involves leading the Prior Authorization functional area within various aspects of revenue cycle management, including billing, collection, or accounts receivable. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the billing information system and managerial capacity to handle staff and oversee prior authorization-related activities across the revenue cycle.

Main Responsibilities

The job entails managing a large remote team, particularly within the pre-certification department, steering research, appeals, order entry, and eligibility verification. The role includes participating in the hiring process, employee training, and performance evaluations, as well as acting as a departmental liaison for interdepartmental communication. Analyzing outcomes, managing prior authorization processes, insurance verifications, policy adherence, employee productivity, and fostering positive workplace relationships are key components of the role. A strict adherence to PHI regulations is also mandated.

Qualifications & Skills

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with a preference for individuals who have experience in a high-volume billing office within a laboratory setting. Extensive knowledge of reimbursement, billing, coding, and compliance regulations is necessary. Skills such as complex analysis, Microsoft Office proficiency, effective communication, interpersonal relationships, organization, and healthcare research are also vital for this position.
