About the Role

The Athletic is on the hunt for a passionate, adaptable golf reporter with a talent for storytelling in various formats. Candidates should have thorough golf knowledge, source-building skills, and be able to lead in analysis and reportage. This remote role is open to individuals based in the US or Canada.

Key Responsibilities

The reporter will create engaging content for diverse digital platforms including articles, podcasts, videos, newsletters, and social media. They are expected to use their sources effectively to break and analyze news, write proficiently in multiple formats, and balance impactful storytelling with timely reporting on immediate news. Story ideation and understanding all aspects of golf—including trends and business—are critical to the role.

Requirements

The position demands at least two years of golf writing experience for a prominent media company, preferably with some audio and video background. Networking within the golf sector, quick adaptive response to news, and understanding the competitive and commercial dimensions of the sport are essential. Playing experience adds value. Salary range is $68,000.00 – $80,000.00 USD, with variations depending on several factors.
