Responsibilities

As an Electronics Design Authority, your primary responsibilities will include leading the full lifecycle of electronic assembly development. You'll take concepts from initial specification through to service release. This entails managing VHDL-based activities that include:

• Requirements analysis
• Coding and simulation
• IP integration
• Rigorous design verification using advanced simulation and testing methods.

Moreover, you'll be responsible for managing existing designs, addressing technology insertion initiatives, and resolving PCB obsolescence challenges. Additional tasks include generating technical documentation, design reports, and compliance evidence.

You will also perform hands-on integration and demonstration of complex system-level electronics and hardware, ensuring that all work adheres strictly to safety legislation, engineering lifecycle processes, and meets customer expectations. Collaboration and peer reviews will be central to the role, where you will also contribute to commercial activities such as bids and proposals.

Required Skills

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:

• A degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering or a closely related field.
• Experience in component-level design using computer-aided engineering (CAE) for volume production, especially in managing obsolescence and technology insertion.
• Proficiency in circuitry, analogue-to-digital (ADC/DAC) conversion, and collaborating on EMC-compliant PCB layouts.
• A rigorous understanding of safety and legislative aspects regarding high-power and high-voltage equipment.
• Substantial experience in design proving, system integration, and proactive defect resolution.
• Strong ability to gather technical evidence supporting safety and fitness for purpose.
• Understanding of FPGA design, power electronics, and sophisticated test and measurement techniques.

You will join the Archerfish team within the Underwater Battlespace unit, which focuses on the complete lifecycle of electronics development from design to in-service support. This unit aims to ensure long-term operational success through the management of technology insertions and obsolescence, maintaining compliance with relevant safety legislation and customer requirements.
