Job Responsibilities

The Junior Database Analyst will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the integrity and efficiency of database systems. The primary responsibilities include:

Evaluating and reviewing Department of State database resources and services to maintain high data quality.
Developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures.
Designing logical and physical databases while assessing the impact of changes on applications and operations.
Developing and deploying reports and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to support data integration and application operations.
Designing, developing, and maintaining PL/SQL database applications.
Assisting application and web development staff with database solutions for business problems, as well as offering support with data warehouse architectures and database management capabilities.
Administering, maintaining, and developing policies to ensure the security and integrity of the database.
Performing database and software life-cycle activities to ensure the highest levels of system performance, availability, and compliance with business requirements.
Monitoring database jobs on a daily basis and applying necessary patches to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
Optimizing database performance through various activities including monitoring, administering, developing, and changing database indices.
Coordinating database backups effectively with the team to safeguard critical data assets.
Working closely with business units to translate their requirements into database objects and implementing business intelligence reports to fulfill organizational needs.

Required Skills

A minimum of three years of experience in Oracle database administration or relevant experience showcasing strong PL/SQL knowledge.
Certification in Oracle Database Administration, Oracle Database SQL, or Oracle Database PL/SQL Developer is preferred but not mandatory.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members and clients.
