The position necessitates a strong academic background and extensive industry experience. Requirements include:
A Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Retrieval, Economics, or a related field with emphasis on quantitative methods, or an M.S. with comparable experience.
For M.S. holders, a minimum of 12 years of industry experience in applied science, data science, or relevance/ranking roles is required; for Ph.D. holders, at least 8 years.
Proven expertise in metrics design for ranking systems, encompassing offline metrics and counterfactual evaluation.
Strong practical knowledge of causal inference and experimental methodologies, especially concerning ranking systems.
Robust understanding of quality metrics for content ranking and extensive experience with defining and validating these metrics on a scalable platform.
Proficiency in SQL and at least one statistical computing language such as R or Python.
Solid communication skills with the ability to explain complex statistical concepts to diverse audiences.
A history of contributing to product and organizational strategy through insightful data-driven recommendations.
While the required qualifications are a must, additional preferred qualifications include:
A published track record in research areas related to recommendation systems or causal inference related to ranking.
