The role will also cover oversight of treasury activities, particularly cash flow management, which involves monitoring liquidity and ensuring that cash management processes maintain robust governance and controls. Additionally, the candidate will stay updated on tax legislation changes and positively contribute to the development of the organization's Tax Strategy.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates for this position must be well-experienced in corporation tax within large or complex organizations. Key requirements include:

  • A relevant professional qualification (such as CIOT, ATT, or ACCA) or equivalent experience,
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex tax discussions to non-technical audiences,
  • Experience in leading teams or fostering collaborative environments,
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills,
  • Proficient in IT, particularly Excel, and experience with tax or financial systems.

While not necessary, having knowledge of other direct taxes or treasury activities, such as cash flow forecasting, would be beneficial. Familiarity with Alphatax software is considered advantageous.

Salary and Compensation

The successful candidate will start at a competitive salary of £54,776 per year, with performance-driven pay progression allowing increases up to £74,386. Aside from a substantial salary, Scottish Water also offers comprehensive benefits, including:
